A Warrenville man is behind bars after Aiken County deputies say he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend Wednesday morning.
Todd Brown, 46, is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and first-degree burglary, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to a house at 548 Pine St. around 7:19 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. They found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound lying in the front yard.
She was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where she later died, deputies said. The Aiken County Coroner's Office identified her as 32-year-old Lacey Parker.
Witnesses told deputies that Brown kicked in the front door the house, which belonged to Parker, his ex-girlfriend, and got into a fight with her.
Deputies said Brown fled the area before they arrived on scene, but was later arrested and transported to the detention center.
The investigation is ongoing.
