A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper who is under criminal investigation has now resigned.
The THP confirmed that Daniel Threet's resignation went into effect on Thursday.
Metro police say Threet is the subject of a prostitution-related investigation that began at the beginning of February. The case is open and active, police said.
Threet, 45, worked as midnight sergeant in Putnam County.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the department said: "Employees shall not commit any act that would reflect discredit upon themselves or the department while on or off duty."
