FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle Thursday morning on Raeford Road.

Just before 8:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Raeford Road near Rush Road in reference to a deceased motorcyclist.

Police say Maninkie Farrell Ray, 40, was traveling east on Raeford Road when he crossed into the oncoming travel lane, left the roadway and crashed into the wood line.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Ray's family filed a missing persons report with the Fayetteville Police Department on Feb. 19 when he didn't return home.

During a search, family members located the crash cite and called 911.

Officers are still investigating the crash.
